Six newborns died in a fire at a baby hospital in India, after four children died in a fire at an amusement park

Six newborn babies have died after a fire destroyed a children’s hospital in the Indian capital. People rushed into the fire to save the babies, police said Sunday.

“All 12 newborn babies were rescued from the hospital with the help of other people,” senior police officer Surendra Choudhary said in a statement, but added that when they reached medical help, six were dead.

“Legal action is being taken against the owner of the hospital,” Choudhary said.

He would not provide further details about how the children died.

The owner of the baby hospital has fled, Delhi Police said.

In addition to the six who died, another baby under 12 who was pulled from the choking fumes was dead before the fire started, Choudhary said, without elaborating.

The fire broke out late on Saturday at the New Born Baby Care hospital in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area.

Delhi Fire Brigade director Atul Garg said 14 fire tenders have been sent to tackle the blaze, he told news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).

“The fire spread too quickly due to an explosion in an oxygen cylinder,” he told PTI.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the situation ‘heartbreaking’.

“We all stand with those who lost their innocent children in this accident,” he said on social media.

“The causes of the incident are being investigated and whoever is responsible for this negligence will not be spared.”

The fire occurred a day after 27 people died in a fire at an entertainment center in the western state of Gujarat. Local media have reported that two people have been arrested in connection with that incident.

This is the cut-off date on which you, as a shareholder, must be present on the company’s books in order to receive the dividend. The ex-dividend date is important because when a stock is bought or sold, the transaction takes at least two business days to settle. Ruud grateful for the Geneva Open grind prior to the French Open

Tennis world number seven Casper Ruud believes his physically taxing win at the Geneva Open on Saturday could work in his favor as he prepares for his French Open campaign with a first-round match against Brazilian Felipe Alves on Monday.

Ruud played both the semi-final and final of the Geneva Open on Saturday after rain affected play on Friday. He defeated Flavio Cobolli 1-6 6-1 7-6(4) in a tough encounter before returning to the court hours later to beat Tomas Machac 7-5 6-3 in the final.

“I played four good matches, four quite tough matches, so I think it’s a good preparation physically,” two-time French Open finalist Ruud told reporters.

“All the other players in Paris, what are they doing in training? They play matches. So why don’t you just come here and play a real match instead of practice matches. That’s my theory, and today I got to play on the field for over three hours.

“That’s something you have to prepare for when you play best-of-five sets. It’s not easy to practice for three hours straight in the Slams, so it was a great week in terms of winning and building the form and physicality for Paris.”

Ruud will be hoping it is third time lucky at Roland Garros after losing the last two finals to Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic, but the Norwegian said he was not looking too far into the future.

“The goal, like any other Slam, is to get to the second week and from there I’ve generally seen things open up a bit,” Ruud said.

“Maybe you’re playing someone who’s a little tired. If you’re physically ready for the second week of a Slam, I think a lot of good things can happen.

PBA: Ginebra and Meralco clash in crucial Game 5 of the Philippine Cup semifinals

Ginebra and Meralco will face off again in a crucial Game 5 of the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup semifinal series.

Ginebra seemed to have finally discovered Meralco after a convincing 90-71 win in Game 4 to tie the PBA Season 48 semifinals on May 24.

But the Gin Kings are under no illusions that things will get easier in what has now become a virtual best-of-three matchup between the playoff rivals.

“I’m happy, but it’s only one match. After tonight we can move on and prepare for the next game,” said LA Tenorio, whose surprise start gave the Gin Kings a big boost in Friday’s win.

Tenorio immediately made his presence felt for Ginebra, which leaned to a 31-15 start before cruising to a much-needed win at the Mall of Asia Arena.

He finished with seven points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals in more than 22 minutes of action.

Match tips at 6:15 PM back at the MOA Arena.

“They (Meralco) will be ready. I’m sure I’m ready to start. Medyo nagulat sila dun. For the next match they will definitely be ready and it will be more difficult,” said Tenorio.
